Gillygate Closure

| 0 Comments
Gillygate will be closed from tomorrow (Mon. 22nd Feb 2010) for six weeks. This is to facilitate the installation of a new gas main.

As a result, some bus services will be diverted as follows:

First York Routes 1 and 5 will be routed from York Station via Rougier St. and The Stonebow. after Peasholme Green, they will turn left, following the City Wall along Lord Mayor's Walk to join their normal route at Clarence St.;

First York Route 6 will travel via St. Leonard's Place, Bootham and Burton Stone Lane, joining its normal route at Crichton Avenue, i.e. it will not serve York Hospital.

Diverted buses will observe all normal stops along their temporary routes.

Cars will, of course, be unable to use Gillygate during the closure, so drivers should plan alternative routes and expect longer journey times. This is particularly important for patients visiting York Hospital.
