February 2009 Timetable Changes

Some 1st York services have timetable changes starting tomorrow (Sun. 22nd Feb.).

These do not appear to affect the No.11 (Bishopthorpe) service, except for some changes to the route followed in the Ashley Park (other side of town) area..

If you intend to travel elsewhere within York, it would be sensible to check the timing by ringing 1st York (during working hours) or Traveline (see Links).

Have we moved?

The temporary bus stop sign near Dixons' Butchers on Main Street is a West Yorkshire one.

Does that mean we can have (subsidised) West Yorks. fares if we travel from it?

Trains to Thirsk

Thanks for your response, Chris. It is great to realise I have at least one reader! Let's hear more comments if there is anyone else out there!

There are also Trans-Pennine Express trains from York to Thirsk approx. hourly. The day return fare is £8-80. This is similar to the return bus fare. Pensioners, of course, travel free on the bus and would pay £6-60 on the train using a Railcard.

The main snag is that Thirsk Station is about a mile and a half from the town centre. The bus arrives in the Market Square.
