Did you know that there is a bus service from York to Thirsk?

The bus leaves from the stand used by the City Tour buses outside the hotel at York Station and calls at Exhibition Square.

In Thirsk, the terminus is in the market place.

Buses leave York at  9-25 (Mon. to Fri.); 11-05; 14-05; 1700 (all Mon.-Sat.).
Return time from Thirsk are 13-00 and 15-30 (both Mon.-Fri.)

During term time (Mon. - Fri.) there is a bus from York College at 9-10, and the 15-30 bus goes through to York College.

Market days in Thirsk are Monday & Saturday.

The James Herriot Museum is close to the Market Place, as is a volunteer-operated local museum. The Parish Church is also worth a visit.

There is also a train service to Thirsk.

If you catch a Grand Central train then the cost is £3 and children and OAP's pay half that.

They only run three trains a day, but the 20 minute journey departs York at 10:14 and 13:22 with return trains at 13:47 and 18:45 on weekdays, with Saturday and Sundays being slightly different.
