Traffic on Race Days

The City of York Council is consulting residents about its plans for traffic management on race days.

A quick read of the published documents suggests that the plan would be much like that used during Ascot race week, although there would be rather more temporary traffic signs propped up around our streets.

You will be allowed past the tesco roundabout to get back to Bish, and stopped going up Bishopthorpe Road from Main Street in the evening rush. Right turns at the top of Sim Balk Lane will be prohibited. It is also suggested that the special measures will be in place until 9 pm which on the evidence of Ascot week is excessively cautious.

You should download and read the summary document here and the full one here.

If you want to respond, you can use an online form here. Alternatively contact the Parish Council by email here, as this will be discussed at its meeting on Tuesday January 24th 2006 at 7pm.
