New Scout bus takes to the road

1st Bishopthorpe Scout Group has taken to the road with its new minibus.

The old bus was rotting away, so the Scout group raised the necessary funds to buy a new and larger vehicle. £1000 was received in a grant from the Bishopthorpe Parish Council, and £4000 was awarded by Bishopthorpe Millennium Trust. The remaining £10 000 to purchase the vehicle came from the income from the fortnightly paper collection over the last three years.

Already the bus has been used to convey local children on visits throughout the county. Funded entirely from local contributions, the minibus is proving to be a worthwhile asset for young people, as well as a saving on multiple car journeys.
