You know how you always need to book a doctor's appointment - and its the bank holday weekend? A new service at our local General Practice offers a way round this.

Launched today, the Internet Appointment Booking Facility is now available on the web. All you have to do to use it is apply at the Surgery in order to register your interest. You will receive a letter on how to log in and use the new service.

This involves setting up your 'account' and then logging in every time using a password.

The service looks pretty good - doctors' names and the times they have free appointments are listed for you to choose. The site also links to the Patient UK web site, which provides all sorts of information, including leaflets, links etc.

One thing about the new service is that it prevents your web browser from 'remembering' yoour login details - presumably because the service is used nationally often from public access computers such as at our library, so you will have to keep a record of your login details.

You can acess the new appointments service here.
