New start
Now that the sensory garden project is underway, the Crossroads project group has started a renewal of the Pinfold area.
To begin with, local builder and former Millennium Trustee John Lynch has offered to help get the site cleaned up, and is recruiting the scouts and guides to help him in the task [the area is formally under the control of the Highways section of the City of York Council].
Meanwhile, a bid has been made to the Ward Committee for £4000 to renew the area. In the light of comments made by local people, and the suggestions in the Design Competition , the idea is to provide seating in an attractive structure. As the Pinfold was formerly where errant sheep and cattle were locked up (and you had to pay Mr Pinder to get them out!), architect Richard Parkin has come up with an interesting initial design using traditional materials.

It includes an area where decorative tiles detailing local events will be fixed, and the Local History Group is giving thought to this, and we have asked Arts Action York to consider how it too might be involved.
This is only the first design - if you want to offer suggestions, type in some comments below to tell us what you think.
