Getting people involved
Everyone might benefit from improvements, but it is important that local people most affected are fully aware of, and considered in the scheme. People from the project group therefore are inviting all village community groups to participate in events, and residents close to the junction area were invited to the launch at the library. We are also approaching directly occupants of the shops, the schools old and new, the Methodist Chapel and the library to get their views. Two of the shop owners in Sim Balk Lane have already supported an improvement scheme as there are difficulties with the land in front of the shops, though of course it will require joint action and funding. The key thing will be to get everyone 'signed up' to what the whole area could look like, then work towards improvements over time as funding permits.
