Time to Vote!

Voting forms with the Ward Committee newsletter are now being delivered, and now is the time to vote for funds for Bishopthorpe for next year.

Why should we vote for the Crossroads project?

I think there are six main reasons:

1. Everybody benefits because everyone uses the area.

2. A successful scheme will ensure that - over a period of time - improvements can be made as part of a planned change, rather than by piecemeal small developments that will always be in competition with other needs.

3. A better environment will set the standard for other improvements to the village, and may well attract people here to, among other things, spend in village outlets.

4. Attractive and interesting roadways have been proved to slow down traffic.

5. If Ward Committee funding is granted, this will allow other money to be raised in the form of external improvement grants, and targetted Parish and City expenditure.

6. And if successful, the scheme will demonstrate how something new and vibrant can be created by local people. Bishopthorpe does well when it comes to community events - why not this one too?

With the Ward voting form comes also a form to fill in about the Crossroads project - I shall use mine (probably on both sides!) to make points raised by my family and drop them off to one of the 2 shops mentioned - Lister's and Riley's (though you can post them for free too). There's even a copy of the form on this web site in the Library.
