Join the Patient Participation Group

The Old School Medical Practice which includes the Bishopthorpe surgery has revived its Patient Participation Group. This consists mainly of volunteers who have responded to notices in the surgeries, but inevitably, these are not seen or read by a majority of registered patients so you may not be aware of the Group’s existence.

Medical provision nationally and locally is currently subject to a lot of change, and it is important that the medical staff should be aware of patient reaction to what is done or planned. It is important, too, that useful information should be disseminated as widely as possible.

At present, I am the only Bishopthorpe resident attending PPG meetings. It matters that the distinctive needs of this village should be represented. Additionally, I am rather an ancient and thus not well qualified to speak of the needs of young families, people working, etc. Other commitments will also prevent my attending every meeting.

If you are a patient of the Practice, please consider joining the group. Meetings are held at the Copmanthorpe surgery on the last Wednesday of each month, commencing at 6 p.m. It may be possible to organise lifts if transport is a problem.

If you would like more information, contact the Practice Manager, Marcus Collumb, at Copmanthorpe Surgery (706455) – or me via this site.
